Volvo WIA Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About Volvo WIA Lights

What years and models of Volvo WIA trucks are these lights compatible with?

These lights are designed to fit WIA models from 1988 through 2003. This includes both the standard WIA and WIA64T configurations. However, compatibility can vary depending on whether your truck has the aero or standard hood design. We recommend reviewing your specific model year and OEM with our customer service team if you're unsure, as some mid-year production changes may affect fitment.

Are these lights DOT approved and what's the difference between LED and halogen options?

Yes, all our Volvo WIA replacement lights meet or exceed DOT standards for highway use. LED lights offer 50,000+ hour lifespan, instant-on brightness, and draw less power (typically 0.5-2 amps vs 4-6 amps for halogen). Halogen lights are more budget-friendly and produce a warmer light color that some drivers prefer. LEDs are generally brighter and more visible in poor weather conditions, while halogens are easier to replace if individual bulbs fail.

How difficult is the installation process and what tools will I need?

Most Volvo WIA light replacements can be completed in 30-60 minutes per light with basic hand tools. You'll typically need a Phillips and flathead screwdriver, 10mm and 13mm sockets, wire strippers, and electrical connectors. Headlights require removing 4-6 mounting bolts and disconnecting the wiring harness. Marker lights are simpler, usually held by 2-3 screws. Some LED upgrades may require splicing wires if converting from sealed beam, but most are plug-and-play with the existing connectors.

What's included with each light purchase and are mounting hardware and pigtails included?

It includse the light assembly itself and standard mounting hardware (bolts, screws, or clips as applicable). Pigtails and wiring connectors come included for lights that need them, but are not included with direct replacement units, since those use your existing wiring. LED lights typically come with built-in resistors to prevent hyper-flashing. Headlight assemblies include the housing but bulbs may be sold separately depending on the specific product - check the product description for details.

How do these aftermarket lights compare to OEM Volvo parts in terms of quality and longevity?

Our aftermarket Volvo WIA lights are manufactured to meet or exceed OEM specifications at a fraction of the dealer price. The housings use heavy-duty polycarbonate lenses that resist cracking and yellowing better than many original parts. Chrome bezels feature triple-plated finishes for corrosion resistance. While OEM parts typically last 5-7 years, our LED options can last 10+ years with proper installation. We back our lights with warranties ranging from 1-3 years depending on the product, and customer reviews consistently report performance equal to or better than factory parts.
