Why Use Semi Truck Bumper Guides?
The edge of the front bumper is hard to see from the driverâs seat. Bumper guides extend that line of sight to protect the
semi-truck bumper from scrapes and dings while maneuvering the truck. It's a visual aid that adds an extra layer of security by marking where the corners of the bumper are. Some assemblies come with LED lighting or reflective lenses that help with nighttime visibility. With numerous designs and styles available, bumper guides can be used to add that custom touch of personality to your big rig.
How to Install a Bumper Guide
1. Check Clearance: Confirm you have the correct brackets and offset curve for your bumper. Open the hood fully to ensure it wonât hit the guide.
2. Position the Clamps: Slide the C-clamps into place. Leave slight space for the bumper. Set the guide loosely on the bumper.
3. Align the Guide: Rotate and adjust until it sits straight. Keep the clamps evenly spaced.
4. Tighten the Hardware: Use a 9/16" and 1-1/16" wrench to secure the bolts. You can apply Loctite gel bond to prevent loosening from road vibration.
5. Wire the LEDs (If Equipped): Run the wire under the bumper. Tap into the running light circuit using a splicer.
6. Test the Light: If the LED doesnât turn on, remove the bulb. Flip it 180 degrees. Reinstall and test again.
