Kenworth Polishing

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth Polishing

What material are these polished bumpers made from, and how thick is the steel?

Our Kenworth polished bumpers are manufactured from heavy-duty 304 stainless steel, typically ranging from 16 to 14 gauge thickness depending on the specific model. The 304 stainless steel provides excellent corrosion resistance and maintains its mirror finish longer than chrome-plated steel. Each bumper undergoes a multi-stage polishing process to achieve a deep, reflective shine that resists pitting and oxidation common with standard chrome bumpers.

Which Kenworth truck models and years are these polished bumpers compatible with?

Our polished bumpers fit Kenworth W900, W900L, T800, T600, T660, and T680 models. For W900/W900L trucks, we carry options for 1982-present models with both set-back and set-forward axle configurations. T800 bumpers fit 1987-present models, while T600/T660 options cover 1994-2017 model years. T680 bumpers are available for 2013-present trucks. Always verify your specific truck's bumper mounting pattern, as some custom configurations may require different brackets or spacing.

What mounting hardware is included, and are there any special installation requirements?

Each polished bumper includes grade 8 mounting bolts, washers, and standard mounting brackets designed for factory mounting points. Installation typically takes 2-3 hours and requires basic hand tools including socket wrenches and a torque wrench. Some models may require removing the grille or headlight bezels for access. We recommend having a second person assist due to bumper weight (typically 45-75 pounds). Professional installation may be needed if your truck has aftermarket modifications or non-standard mounting configurations.

What finish options are available, and how do they differ in appearance and maintenance?

We offer three primary finishes for Kenworth bumpers: mirror polish (highest shine with reflective chrome-like appearance), brushed finish (subtle satin appearance that hides minor scratches better), and standard polish (bright finish between mirror and brushed). Mirror polish requires monthly polishing to maintain its appearance, while brushed finishes need less frequent maintenance. All finishes can be restored with appropriate metal polishes, though mirror finishes show fingerprints and water spots more readily than brushed options.

Will these polished bumpers affect my truck's weight rating or void any warranties?

Our polished stainless steel bumpers typically weigh within 5-10 pounds of OEM bumpers and will not affect your truck's GVWR or weight distribution. They meet or exceed OEM strength specifications and DOT requirements for commercial vehicles. Installing aftermarket bumpers generally does not void manufacturer warranties, as they are considered appearance modifications. However, improper installation that damages mounting points or frame components could affect warranty coverage, so proper installation following included instructions is essential.
