International 9300/9370 Toggle Extensions

Frequently Asked Questions About International 9300/9370 Toggle Extensions

What exactly are toggle extensions and what do they do?

Toggle extensions are add-on arms that attach to your truck's factory hood toggle latches, the clips that hold the hood securely closed. By lengthening the latch handle, they give you more leverage and a better grip, making it easier to open and close the hood, especially if the factory toggle is short, worn, or difficult to reach.

Will these toggle extensions fit my International 9300 or 9370 without modification?

Toggle extensions in this category are designed to bolt onto the existing factory toggle latch hardware found on International 9300 and 9370 models, so no cutting or drilling is typically required. That said, hood latch setups can vary slightly by model year and prior repairs, so it's a good idea to check the listed fitment details and compare them to your existing latch before ordering.

What materials and finishes are available?

Toggle extensions are commonly offered in chrome-plated steel or stainless steel. Chrome gives a bright, polished look but can be more prone to surface corrosion over time if not maintained, while stainless steel generally offers better long-term resistance to rust and road grime. Choose based on how much shine you want versus how much upkeep you're willing to do.

How difficult is it to install toggle extensions myself?

Most toggle extensions are designed for straightforward installation using basic hand tools. In most cases, you'll remove the existing hardware on the factory latch, position the extension, and secure it back in place. No welding is typically needed, and the job can usually be done in a matter of minutes per side.

Will adding toggle extensions affect how securely my hood latches?

When installed correctly, toggle extensions should not compromise the strength or security of the original latch mechanism, since they attach to the existing hardware rather than replacing the latch itself. However, always double check that the extension is fully seated and tightened, and periodically inspect the connection point for wear, just as you would with any hood hardware.
