Peterbilt 567/579 Refrigerators & Mounting Kits

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 567/579 Refrigerators & Mounting Kits

Will a refrigerator and mounting kit from this category fit my Peterbilt 567 or 579 without modification?

These refrigerators and mounting kits are designed specifically for the Peterbilt 567 and 579 cab and sleeper configurations, so they are built to align with factory mounting points and existing power connections. However, fit can still vary depending on your truck's specific sleeper size, trim level, and model year, so it's important to check the listed compatibility details on each product page and compare them against your VIN or build sheet before ordering.

What size refrigerator can I install, and will it fit in the space I have available?

Refrigerator capacity and physical dimensions vary by model, and the available space in your Peterbilt's cab or sleeper will determine what size unit you can run. Before purchasing, measure the mounting area where your current fridge sits, or where you plan to install one, and compare those measurements to the product specifications listed for each unit to confirm it will fit properly.

Do I need the mounting kit if I already have a refrigerator, or does it only work with specific brands?

Mounting kits in this category are generally designed to secure a refrigerator in place using the Peterbilt's factory mounting points, but not every kit is universal. Some kits are matched to specific refrigerator brands or models, so double check the product description to confirm the kit you're considering is compatible with the refrigerator you own or plan to buy.

What is involved in installing the refrigerator and mounting kit myself?

Installation typically involves securing the mounting bracket or kit to the existing hardware points in your cab or sleeper, then placing and fastening the refrigerator into the bracket. Most kits are designed for straightforward bolt-in installation using basic hand tools, but you'll also need to connect the unit to your truck's 12-volt power system, so some basic electrical knowledge is helpful. If you're not comfortable with wiring or mounting work, having a qualified technician handle the install is a good option.

How much power does a truck refrigerator draw, and will it affect my battery?

Power draw varies by refrigerator size and model, and running a fridge for extended periods, especially with the truck off, can draw down your battery if it's not connected properly. Many drivers wire these units through a system that monitors battery voltage or ties into an APU or inverter setup to avoid unexpected battery drain. Check the specific power draw listed for your chosen refrigerator and consult your truck's electrical setup to determine the best wiring approach.
