Kenworth W990 Switch Trim & ID Labels

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth W990 Switch Trim & ID Labels

What exactly are switch trim and ID labels used for?

Switch trim pieces are the decorative and functional bezels or plates that surround the switches on your Kenworth W990 dash, doors, and console. ID labels are the small printed or embossed tags that identify what each switch controls, such as headlights, marker lights, wipers, or auxiliary functions. Together, these parts help keep your cab organized, factory-correct, and easy to operate.

Will these switch trim pieces and labels fit my specific W990 model year?

Kenworth updates interior trim styles and switch layouts periodically, so fitment can vary between production years and cab configurations. Always check the listed part number and compatible year range on each product page, and compare it against your existing switch panel or trim piece before ordering to confirm a proper match.

What materials and finishes are available for switch trim?

Switch trim is typically offered in finishes like chrome, stainless steel, and molded plastic to match factory or upgraded interior styling. Chrome and stainless options tend to hold up well against everyday handling and cab wear, while plastic trim is a lighter, cost-effective option for replacing worn or cracked factory pieces.

How do I install replacement switch trim or ID labels?

Most switch trim pieces snap or screw into place around the existing switch opening after the old trim is removed, often requiring no special tools beyond a small screwdriver or trim panel tool. ID labels are usually self-adhesive and simply peel and stick onto the switch or trim surface. If your trim piece secures the switch itself, make sure the switch is properly seated before reattaching the trim.

Can I use these labels and trim to relabel or customize my switches?

Yes, many drivers use replacement ID labels to correct mismatched switches, replace faded or peeling labels, or standardize a panel after swapping in new switches. Just be sure the label wording and icon match the actual function of the switch to avoid confusion in the cab, especially for safety-related functions like hazard lights or engine brakes.
