International 9900/i/ix Frame Light Bars-Panel

Frequently Asked Questions About International 9900/i/ix Frame Light Bars-Panel

What exactly is a frame light bar-filler panel, and what does it do?

This is the panel that mounts along the truck's frame rail, typically between the front bumper and the cab or fuel tank, filling the gap and providing a mounting location for auxiliary lighting. It cleans up the look of the front end while giving you a spot to add marker lights, fog lights, or other accessory lighting without drilling into the frame itself.

Will this panel fit my specific International 9900, 9900i, or 9900ix without modification?

Frame configurations can vary by model year and how the truck was originally spec'd, especially around fuel tank placement and frame rail spacing. We recommend checking the listed fitment notes on each product page and comparing measurements to your truck before ordering, since even trucks under the same model name can have differences in frame width or mounting hole locations.

Does the panel come pre-drilled for lights, or do I need to cut and drill it myself?

This depends on the specific panel you choose. Some are sold pre-drilled with standard light spacing to match common light kits, while others are sold blank so you can lay out and drill your own pattern. Check the product description and photos closely, and if you already own a specific light kit, confirm the hole spacing matches before you order.

What material and finish options are available?

These panels are typically available in stainless steel, with finish options ranging from a brushed or polished look to diamond plate textures. Stainless holds up well to road grime and weather, but the finish you choose will affect how much maintenance it needs to keep looking clean and scratch-free.

Is installation something I can do myself, or does it require a shop?

Many customers install these panels themselves using basic hand tools, since the panel usually bolts or brackets onto existing frame mounting points. That said, if your panel isn't pre-drilled for lights, or if you're running wiring for new lights through the frame, it's worth having a shop handle the electrical work if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.
