Western Star 5700XE Truck Fairings & Steps

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Star 5700XE Truck Fairings & Steps

Will these fairings and steps fit my Western Star 5700XE without modification?

Products in this category are designed to match the factory mounting points and body lines of the Western Star 5700XE, so they typically install using the existing holes and brackets. That said, fitment can vary slightly depending on your truck's model year and any prior modifications to the chassis or fairing area, so it's a good idea to check the listed fitment details or reach out to our team before ordering if you're unsure.

What materials are these fairings and steps made from, and how durable are they?

Fairings are commonly made from durable plastics, fiberglass, or aluminum, while steps are usually constructed from aluminum or steel for strength under regular foot traffic. Material choice affects both weight and long-term durability, so consider your typical routes and weather exposure when choosing between options.

Do the steps provide enough traction and support in wet or icy conditions?

Most steps in this category feature textured, serrated, or diamond-plate surfaces designed to improve grip in wet or icy conditions. While no step surface eliminates slip risk entirely, these designs are built to provide better traction than a smooth surface during everyday use.

Can I install these fairings and steps myself, or do I need a professional?

Many customers install fairings and steps themselves using basic hand tools, since most kits are designed to bolt onto existing mounting locations. However, if your installation involves drilling, fabrication, or working around wiring and air lines, having a professional shop handle the job can help ensure a secure, proper fit.

What finish options are available, and how do I maintain the appearance over time?

Fairings and steps are typically available in raw, painted, chrome, or powder-coated finishes depending on the manufacturer and product line. Regular washing and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners will help maintain the finish, and chrome or polished parts may need periodic polishing to prevent oxidation from road salt and grime.
