Volvo VNR Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About Volvo VNR Lights

Will these lights fit my specific Volvo VNR model year?

Most aftermarket lights for the Volvo VNR are designed to fit 2018 and newer models. However, there can be slight variations between early production years (2018-2019) and later models (2020+), particularly in mounting hole patterns and electrical connectors. Always verify the specific year range listed in the product description, and when in doubt, contact us with your OEM number for exact fitment confirmation.

Do I need any special tools or modifications to install these lights?

Installation difficulty varies by light type. Marker lights and turn signals typically require basic hand tools and take 30-60 minutes per side. Headlight assemblies may require bumper removal and harness adapters, taking 2-4 hours. Most LED upgrades are plug-and-play, but some may require load resistors to prevent hyper-flashing. We recommend having a multimeter handy to verify proper grounding and voltage.

What's the difference between OEM-style and aftermarket LED options?

OEM-style lights maintain factory appearance and typically use halogen bulbs with standard reflector housings. Aftermarket LED options offer 3-5 times more light output, last 50,000+ hours versus 1,000 for halogens, and draw less power. However, LED retrofits may require additional components like CANbus adapters to prevent dashboard errors. Chrome, black, and clear lens options are available in both categories.

Are these lights DOT approved and legal for highway use?

All lights marked as DOT compliant meet FMVSS 108 standards for on-road use. Look for DOT markings on the lens or housing. Some high-output LED bars and auxiliary lights are for off-road use only and must be covered or disabled on public roads. Color restrictions apply - amber for front turn signals, red for rear markers, and white or selective yellow for forward-facing lights only.

How do these lights hold up to weather and road conditions?

Quality aftermarket lights feature IP67 or IP68 waterproof ratings, polycarbonate lenses resistant to stone chips, and powder-coated or chrome-plated housings that resist corrosion. Look for lights with sealed connectors and breather membranes to prevent moisture buildup. Premium brands typically warranty their lights for 1-3 years against defects, though road salt and pressure washing can shorten lifespan if seals are compromised.
