Sterling L-Series Floor Covers & Mats

Frequently Asked Questions About Sterling L-Series Floor Covers & Mats

Will these floor mats fit my Sterling L-Series exactly, or will I need to trim them?

These floor covers are designed to match the factory floorboard layout of the Sterling L-Series cab, including the contours around the pedals and transmission hump. Fit can vary slightly depending on the model year and cab configuration, so it is a good idea to check the listed year range and cab style before ordering. Most customers find they fit without modification, but minor trimming may be needed in rare cases due to aftermarket flooring or pedal changes.

What material are the floor mats made from, and how durable are they?

Sterling L-Series floor covers are typically made from heavy-duty rubber or vinyl material designed to handle daily wear from boots, dirt, and moisture. They are built to hold up under regular use in a work truck environment, resisting cracking and fading better than lightweight carpet-style mats. Rubber options tend to offer better durability for drivers who are in and out of the cab frequently.

How do I clean and maintain these floor mats?

Most rubber and vinyl floor covers can be removed and hosed off, then wiped down with a mild soap and water solution. For daily maintenance, shaking out loose dirt and debris helps prevent buildup that can lead to premature wear. Avoid harsh solvents, as they can dry out or discolor the material over time.

Are these mats a direct replacement for the factory flooring, or do they sit on top of it?

These floor covers are designed to sit over your existing cab floor, providing a protective layer rather than replacing the OEM flooring itself. This makes installation simple since there is no need to remove the original floorboard. They are held in place primarily by fit and weight, though some drivers add mat clips or adhesive for extra security.

Do these floor mats help with noise or insulation in the cab?

Yes, many drivers report that adding a floor cover provides a modest improvement in cab insulation, helping to dampen road noise and reduce heat or cold transfer through the floor. While these mats are not marketed specifically as sound-deadening products, the added material layer can make a noticeable difference in overall cab comfort.
