Sterling Acterra Truck Cab Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About Sterling Acterra Truck Cab Lights

What are Sterling Acterra cab lights used for?

Cab lights, also known as cab marker lights or clearance lights, are mounted along the roofline of the truck cab. They improve visibility to other drivers, help indicate the width and height of the vehicle, and are often used to add a customized look to the truck.

Will these cab lights fit my Sterling Acterra without modification?

Most cab lights in this category are designed to fit the mounting holes and wiring setup already present on Sterling Acterra models, so they typically install as a direct replacement. However, it is always a good idea to check the specific year of your truck and compare part specifications, since minor variations in cab design can occur across model years.

What colors and lens options are available?

Cab lights are commonly available with amber, clear, red, or smoked lenses, and LED versions are widely offered for improved brightness and longer lifespan compared to incandescent bulbs. The color you choose should also comply with local regulations regarding lighting position and color, which can vary by state or province.

How difficult is it to install replacement cab lights?

Installation is generally straightforward and can often be done with basic hand tools. Most kits bolt into the existing mounting holes and connect to the factory wiring harness, though some owners choose to seal around the base with silicone to help prevent water intrusion over time.

Are these lights DOT compliant for on-road use?

Many cab lights are manufactured to meet DOT requirements for clearance and identification lighting, but compliance can depend on the specific lens color, brightness, and placement on the vehicle. Always verify that the lights you select meet the applicable regulations in your area before installing them on a truck used for commercial or highway driving.
