Peterbilt 389 Toggle Extensions

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 389 Toggle Extensions

What are toggle extensions and why would I need them?

Toggle extensions attach to the existing toggle switches on your Peterbilt 389 dashboard, adding length to the switch so it's easier to see, reach, and grip. Many drivers add them for improved comfort during long hauls, a cleaner custom dash look, or simply because the factory switches feel short or hard to grab with gloves on.

Will these fit the toggle switches already in my truck?

Toggle extensions are generally designed to thread onto or clip over standard toggle switch bats found in Peterbilt 389 dashboards. Because switch styles can vary slightly by production year or if the dash has been customized, it's a good idea to check the thread size or mounting style listed in the product description against your existing switches before ordering.

What materials and finishes are available?

Most toggle extensions are made from metal, such as chrome-plated or stainless steel, though some are offered in anodized or powder-coated colors to match a custom interior. Chrome and polished finishes are popular for matching other dash accents, while colored or anodized options let drivers personalize their cab.

How difficult is it to install toggle extensions myself?

Installation is typically straightforward and doesn't require any wiring or electrical work. In most cases, you simply unscrew or remove the existing switch tip and thread or secure the extension in its place. No special tools are usually needed beyond what came with the extension, but always confirm fitment and any included instructions before starting.

Will adding toggle extensions affect the function of my switches?

When properly matched to your switch style, toggle extensions should not interfere with how the switch operates, they simply extend the part you grip. That said, an incorrect fit can cause the extension to sit loosely or feel unstable, so it's important to verify compatibility with your specific switch bats before installing to ensure smooth, reliable operation.
