Peterbilt 367 Shift Plates

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 367 Shift Plates

What is a shift plate and what does it do?

A shift plate is the decorative and functional panel that surrounds the gear shifter boot on the floor or console of the truck cab. It typically covers the opening around the shift lever, hides wiring or linkage underneath, and gives the interior a finished, custom appearance while protecting the surrounding area from wear.

Will this shift plate fit my Peterbilt 367 without modification?

Shift plates in this category are designed to match the factory shifter opening and mounting points found in the Peterbilt 367. However, fitment can vary depending on the model year, cab configuration, and whether your truck has an automatic or manual transmission setup. We recommend checking the listed specifications and comparing your existing plate's dimensions and bolt pattern before ordering to confirm a proper fit.

What materials and finishes are available?

Shift plates are commonly offered in materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, or chrome-plated metal. Finish options often include polished, brushed, or textured surfaces, and some plates feature etched or engraved designs. Material and finish affect both the look and long-term durability, so consider cab conditions and personal preference when choosing.

How difficult is it to install a shift plate?

Most shift plates are designed for straightforward installation using the existing mounting holes or fasteners from the factory plate. Basic hand tools are usually sufficient, and no cutting or drilling is typically required if the plate matches your truck's original configuration. If your plate requires trimming around the shifter boot, take care to measure twice before making any permanent cuts.

How do I keep my shift plate looking good over time?

Regular cleaning with a mild cleaner and soft cloth helps maintain the finish, especially on polished or chrome surfaces. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that can scratch or dull the material. For textured or brushed finishes, wiping in the direction of the grain helps preserve the original look and prevents visible smudging or streaking.
