Peterbilt 362 Dash Nuts & Screws

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 362 Dash Nuts & Screws

What are these dash nuts and screws used for?

These are the small fasteners used to secure dash panels, trim pieces, gauge clusters, and other interior dash components in the Peterbilt 362. They are not decorative accessories but functional hardware that keeps your dash assembly tight and rattle-free.

Will these fasteners fit my Peterbilt 362 exactly?

These nuts and screws are designed to match the original hardware used on the Peterbilt 362 dash. However, thread size and fastener style can vary slightly depending on the model year and which section of the dash you are working on, so it is a good idea to compare the size and head style of your original fastener before ordering.

What material and finish are these fasteners made from?

Dash nuts and screws are typically made from steel or stainless steel with a plated or corrosion-resistant finish. This helps them hold up to everyday cab conditions and reduces the risk of rust or corrosion over time compared to using generic hardware store fasteners.

Why is it important to use the correct fasteners instead of generic hardware?

Using the correct nuts and screws helps ensure a proper fit, prevents stripping or over-tightening, and keeps dash panels secure without gaps, rattles, or misalignment. Generic fasteners may be close in size but can differ slightly in thread pitch or head shape, which can damage the dash material or fail to hold properly over time.

Can I replace these fasteners myself, or do I need a mechanic?

Most dash nuts and screws are simple to replace with basic hand tools like a screwdriver or small socket set. As long as you know which panel or component the fastener came from, installation is typically straightforward and does not require professional installation.
