Peterbilt 362 Dash Knobs

Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 362 Dash Knobs

What are dash knobs used for on the Peterbilt 362?

Dash knobs are the control knobs used to operate functions on the dashboard such as headlights, panel lights, wiper controls, heater and vent controls, and other switch or lever-actuated systems. They are often a visible upgrade point since many drivers replace factory plastic knobs with more durable or better-looking options.

Will these dash knobs fit my Peterbilt 362 without modification?

Most dash knobs in this category are designed to fit the standard shaft and thread sizes used on Peterbilt 362 dashboards, but knob mounting styles can vary by production year and by which control the knob operates. Check the shaft diameter, thread pitch, or set-screw style listed in the product details against your existing knob before ordering to confirm a proper fit.

What materials and finishes are available for these knobs?

Dash knobs are commonly offered in materials like chrome-plated plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel, with finish options ranging from polished chrome to brushed or black finishes. Metal knobs generally hold up better to daily wear and fading than plastic knobs, especially in direct sunlight.

How do I install a replacement dash knob?

Most dash knobs either thread onto a control shaft or attach with a small set screw or friction fit, so installation is typically a simple hand-tool job. Pull or unscrew the old knob, confirm the new knob matches the shaft size and shape, then press or thread it into place and tighten any set screw securely so it does not spin loose during regular use.

Will these knobs work with aftermarket gauges or switches, or only factory setups?

Many dash knobs are designed to be a direct replacement for factory-style controls, but some are sold as universal knobs that can fit multiple shaft sizes using an adapter or set screw. If you have aftermarket switches or gauges installed, double check the shaft dimensions listed in the product description to make sure the knob will seat and tighten properly.
