International 9900/i/ix Switch Trim & ID Labels

Frequently Asked Questions About International 9900/i/ix Switch Trim & ID Labels

What exactly are switch trim and ID labels used for?

Switch trim and ID labels are the small decorative and functional pieces that surround your dash and switch panel switches. The trim rings frame each switch opening for a clean, finished look, while the ID labels identify what each switch controls, such as headlights, wipers, or marker lights. These parts are mostly cosmetic and organizational rather than mechanical, helping restore a factory or custom appearance to a worn or replaced switch panel.

Will these parts fit my specific International 9900, 9900i, or 9900ix model year?

Switch trim and ID labels are generally designed to match the switch panel layout used across the International 9900, 9900i, and 9900ix series, but panel configurations can vary depending on the model year, cab style, and any prior dash modifications. Before ordering, compare the switch hole size and shape, as well as the labeling text, against your existing panel to confirm a proper match.

What materials and finishes are available?

These trim pieces and labels are typically offered in finishes such as chrome, stainless steel, or brushed metal to complement other cab accessories, while labels are usually printed or engraved for long-term legibility. Choosing a finish that matches your existing dash hardware, such as chrome switch guards or stainless accents, helps maintain a consistent look throughout the cab.

How do I install switch trim and replace ID labels?

Most switch trim rings simply snap, clip, or screw into place around the existing switch opening once the original trim or bezel is removed. ID labels are usually self-adhesive and applied directly above or below the corresponding switch after cleaning the surface to ensure good adhesion. No wiring or electrical work is involved, but it is a good idea to label switches before removing the old trim so you do not lose track of which switch controls which function.

Will the labels stay legible and durable over time?

Quality ID labels are made to withstand daily cab use, including sunlight exposure, cleaning products, and general wear, but like any adhesive label, they can fade or peel over years of heavy use. Keeping the dash area clean and avoiding harsh solvents directly on the labels will help extend their readability and lifespan.
