International 9900/i/ix Cab Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About International 9900/i/ix Cab Lights

Will these cab lights fit my International 9900, 9900i, or 9900ix without modification?

These cab lights are designed to fit the cab profile of the International 9900, 9900i, and 9900ix models, lining up with the factory mounting locations on the cab roof or marker light panel. Since trim levels and production years can have slight variations, it is a good idea to compare the bolt pattern and light housing dimensions of your current setup with the product specifications before ordering.

Are these lights DOT compliant for on-road use?

Most cab and clearance lights offered in this category are designed to meet DOT and FMVSS 108 requirements for color, brightness, and placement. Look for DOT-approved markings on the product listing or packaging, and confirm the lens color (amber, red, or clear) matches what is legally required for the mounting position on your truck.

Do these lights come with the wiring and hardware needed for installation?

Many cab light kits include the mounting hardware, gaskets, and wiring pigtails needed for a straightforward installation, but this can vary by manufacturer and kit type. Check the product description for included components, and have basic tools such as a wire crimper, drill, and sealant on hand in case additional hardware or connectors are needed.

What is the difference between incandescent and LED cab lights, and which should I choose?

LED cab lights generally draw less power, last longer, and produce a brighter, more consistent light output compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. Incandescent lights tend to cost less upfront but require more frequent bulb replacement. Many customers upgrade to LED for improved visibility and reduced maintenance, though either option will work as long as it meets DOT specifications for your application.

How do I keep these lights from fogging up or leaking over time?

Proper sealing is key to preventing moisture buildup inside cab lights. Make sure the gasket or seal included with the light is seated evenly against the cab surface, and apply a thin bead of automotive-grade sealant around the mounting base if the kit does not include a pre-formed gasket. Regularly inspecting the lens and housing for cracks or gaps can also help catch potential leak points before they cause bulb or wiring damage.
