International 4700-4900 Cab Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About International 4700-4900 Cab Lights

What are cab lights and what purpose do they serve?

Cab lights, also known as clearance or marker lights, are the row of lights mounted along the top of the cab. They help increase the visibility of your truck to other drivers, especially in low light, fog, or bad weather, and many trucks use them as a customization feature as well as a functional safety component.

Will these cab lights fit my International 4700 or 4900 without modification?

Cab lights in this category are designed to fit the mounting locations used on International 4700 and 4900 model cabs. That said, exact fitment can vary depending on your truck's model year and whether it has factory light mounts or an aftermarket light bar setup. We recommend checking your existing mounting holes or bar style against the product listing details before ordering.

What are these lights typically made of, and how well do they hold up outdoors?

Most cab lights are constructed with a durable polycarbonate or acrylic lens paired with a metal or plastic housing designed to withstand vibration, road debris, and weather exposure. Chrome or stainless housings are popular options for a long-lasting finish that resists corrosion better than painted alternatives.

Are these lights DOT compliant for on-road use?

Many cab lights sold for this application are designed to meet DOT standards for color and visibility, but compliance can depend on the specific bulb type, lens color, and how the lights are installed. Always check the individual product description for DOT certification information, and confirm that your finished light setup meets the lighting regulations in your operating state before driving on public roads.

How difficult is it to install new cab lights, and do I need any special tools?

Installation difficulty depends on whether you are replacing existing lights in the same mounting holes or installing a new light bar setup. Simple bulb or lens replacements usually require only basic hand tools, while a full light bar installation may involve running new wiring and drilling mounting holes. Most customers with basic electrical and mechanical experience can complete the job in a home garage, but wiring a full circuit with a switch may require some knowledge of your truck's electrical system.
