However, some modifications were made to mounting brackets in 1988 and later models. We recommend checking your existing bracket hole spacing before ordering. What's the difference between rubber and polymer mud flaps, and which should I choose?

Rubber mud flaps are heavier, more flexible, and typically last 2-3 years in normal highway conditions. They're ideal if you want traditional performance at a lower price point. Polymer mud flaps are lighter, more rigid, and resist cracking in extreme temperatures. They typically last 4-5 years and maintain their appearance better. For cabovers that see frequent city driving or backing maneuvers, polymer tends to hold up better against curb contact.

Do I need to drill new holes or modify my truck to install these mud flaps?

Most installations use existing mounting points and require no drilling. Standard FLT cabovers have pre-drilled holes in the frame rails that align with our universal mounting brackets. You'll need basic hand tools including a socket set, and installation typically takes 30-45 minutes per side. Some customers with aftermarket brackets or previous modifications may need to drill new holes, but this is uncommon.

What size mud flaps do I need for my FLT cabover - 24 inch or 30 inch?

The correct size depends on your tire configuration and local regulations. For standard 11R22.5 or 11R24.5 tires, 24-inch wide mud flaps provide adequate coverage. If you're running super singles or 425/65R22.5 wide-base tires, you'll need 30-inch wide mud flaps. Length should be chosen so the bottom of the mud flap sits 6-8 inches from the ground when the truck is loaded. Most FLT cabovers use 24x30 inch or 24x36 inch mud flaps.
