Freightliner FLD SBA Interior Dash Trim

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner FLD SBA Interior Dash Trim

Will this dash trim fit my Freightliner FLD SBA model year?

Freightliner made several interior updates to the FLD SBA over its production run, so panel shapes, mounting points, and gauge cutouts can vary between years. Always check the fitment notes on each product listing and compare the trim piece to your existing dash panel before ordering, or contact our parts team with your VIN or model year to confirm compatibility.

What material is the dash trim made from, and how durable is it?

Most FLD SBA dash trim pieces are molded from ABS plastic or similar automotive-grade composites designed to withstand daily cab use, temperature swings, and UV exposure through the windshield. Quality varies by manufacturer, so check the product description for material details and any warranty information before purchasing.

Does the trim come pre-finished, or will I need to paint or match it?

Many replacement dash trim panels are sold in a factory-style finish such as woodgrain, matte black, or textured gray to match common FLD SBA interior colors. Because interior color schemes changed over the years, compare the listed finish to your current dash closely, and note that some panels may accept paint or vinyl wrap if you want a custom match.

How difficult is it to install new dash trim myself?

Installation typically involves removing trim screws, clips, or snap-fit fasteners holding the old panel in place, disconnecting any switches or vents mounted through it, then transferring those components to the new trim piece. Most owners with basic hand tools can complete the swap without specialty equipment, but taking photos before disassembly helps ensure switches and wiring get reinstalled correctly.

Will I need to reuse or replace switches, vents, and gauges when swapping trim panels?

In most cases, existing switches, vents, ashtrays, and gauge bezels transfer directly from the old trim panel to the new one, since the cutouts are designed to match factory components. Inspect your current hardware for wear before reinstalling, and if any clips or retainers are broken, replacing them at the same time can help the new panel sit flush and stay secure.
