Freightliner Coronado Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Coronado Lights

What year models of Freightliner Coronado are these lights compatible with?

Our Freightliner Coronado lights are designed to fit 2002-2009 Coronado models, including both the SD and standard configurations. The mounting points and electrical connections remained consistent across these model years. However, we always recommend double-checking your specific OEM with our customer service team if you have a transition year model (2001-2002 or 2009-2010) to ensure proper fitment.

Are these lights DOT approved and will they pass inspection?

Yes, all our Freightliner Coronado replacement lights meet or exceed DOT FMVSS 108 standards for commercial vehicles. Each light comes with proper SAE markings and certification stamps. For LED options, we only carry lights with compliant beam patterns and intensity levels that will pass both state and federal inspections. Keep your purchase receipt and product documentation for inspection purposes.

How difficult is the installation process and what tools are required?

Most Coronado light replacements are straightforward plug-and-play installations that take 30-60 minutes per light. You'll need basic hand tools including screwdrivers, socket wrenches (typically 10mm and 13mm), and wire strippers for any splice connections. Headlights require removal of the grille surround (4 bolts) for access. For LED conversions, some models may require a load resistor installation to prevent hyper-flashing, which we include with detailed wiring diagrams.

What's the difference between OEM-style and aftermarket LED options?

OEM-style lights use traditional halogen bulbs and match factory specifications exactly, typically lasting 1-2 years in commercial use. Our LED upgrades offer 50,000+ hour lifespans, consume 80% less power, and provide brighter, whiter light output (6000K vs 3200K halogen). LED options cost more upfront but eliminate frequent bulb changes and reduce alternator load. Both styles use the same mounting hardware and fit identically.

Do these lights come with pigtails and connectors, or just the housing?

All our Coronado light assemblies include the complete housing with integrated pigtails and weather-sealed connectors that match OEM specifications. The pigtails are typically 12-18 inches long with standard 3-pin weatherpack connectors for marker lights and 3-prong connectors for headlights. Bulbs are included with halogen models, while LED units have permanently integrated diodes. No additional wiring harnesses are needed for standard replacements.
