Freightliner Coronado Hoods & Related

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Coronado Hoods & Related

Will this hood fit my specific Freightliner Coronado model year?

Freightliner made several updates to the Coronado over the years, so hood fitment can vary between earlier and later production years. Always check the fitment details listed on each product page and compare them to your truck's VIN or year of manufacture before ordering. If you are unsure, reach out to our sales team with your truck's details and we can help confirm the correct fit.

What material are these hoods made from, and how does it hold up over time?

Most replacement and aftermarket Coronado hoods are made from fiberglass, which is valued in the trucking industry for its durability, repairability, and resistance to denting compared to metal panels. Fiberglass hoods can be sanded, patched, and repainted if they sustain minor damage, making them a practical long-term option for daily drivers.

Do these hoods come pre-painted, or will I need to paint them myself?

Hoods and related components are typically sold in a gel-coat or primed finish, meaning they are not painted to match your truck's color out of the box. You will need to have the hood painted by a body shop or paint professional to match your existing paint code. Check each individual listing for specifics on the finish included with that particular part.

Are hood hinges, latches, and other hardware included, or sold separately?

This depends on the specific product. Some hoods are sold as a complete assembly with hinges, latches, and mounting hardware included, while others are sold as the hood shell only, requiring you to transfer or separately purchase hardware. Review the product description and included components list carefully before purchasing to avoid ordering additional parts you may already have.

Can I install a replacement hood myself, or should I have a professional do it?

Many experienced truck owners and shop technicians are able to install a Coronado hood with basic tools, an extra set of hands, and some mechanical know-how, since the process mainly involves transferring or attaching hinges, latches, and any wiring or air lines for lights and horns. However, because proper alignment affects how well the hood closes and seals, some customers prefer to have a professional shop handle the installation, especially for full hood replacements.
