Freightliner Century 112/120 Hoods & Related

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Century 112/120 Hoods & Related

Will this hood fit my specific Freightliner Century model year?

Freightliner Century hoods can vary slightly depending on production year and cab configuration, so it's important to verify the exact model year and hood style of your truck before ordering. If you're unsure, check your VIN or existing hood for markings, or reach out to our team with your truck's details so we can confirm proper fit before you purchase.

What material are these hoods made from, and how does it affect durability?

Most replacement and aftermarket hoods for the Century 112/120 are constructed from fiberglass, which offers a good balance of durability, repairability, and weight savings compared to steel. Fiberglass hoods can be sanded, patched, and painted to match your fleet colors, making them a practical choice for both appearance and long-term maintenance.

Do these hoods come pre-painted, primed, or unfinished?

Availability varies by product, with some hoods offered in gelcoat or primer finish ready for paint, and others requiring full prep and painting before installation. Check the product listing details for the specific finish included, and plan for paint work if the hood arrives in primer or unfinished gelcoat.

What's involved in installing a replacement hood, and can I do it myself?

Installing a Century 112/120 hood typically involves transferring hardware such as hinges, latches, brackets, and sometimes headlight or grille components from your old hood to the new one. While experienced DIYers can handle this with basic tools and a helper for lifting, many customers choose to have it installed at a shop to ensure proper alignment and fitment, especially since hoods are large and can be difficult to maneuver alone.

Are related components like hood hinges, latches, and brackets sold separately, or do I need to source my own?

This category includes not just complete hoods but also related hardware and components, so items like hinges, latches, mounting brackets, and other hood-related parts may be available individually. If your existing hardware is still in good condition, you often don't need to replace everything at once, but it's worth checking part compatibility for anything you do need to swap out.
