Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Cascadia 116/126 Dash Knobs

Will these dash knobs fit my specific Cascadia model year?

Our dash knobs are designed to fit Freightliner Cascadia 116 and 126 models from 2018 to present (2024). These knobs are direct replacements for the factory climate control and air suspension knobs. However, pre-2018 Cascadia models use a different knob design with different shaft sizes. Always verify your truck's model year before ordering, as the 2018 redesign changed the dash panel configuration significantly.

Are these knobs made of chrome-plated plastic or solid metal?

Most of our Cascadia dash knobs feature a chrome-plated ABS plastic construction with a weighted core for a premium feel. While not solid metal, they're engineered to match or exceed OEM quality with UV-resistant plating that won't yellow or peel like cheaper alternatives. For heavy-duty applications, we also carry billet aluminum options that are CNC-machined from solid aluminum blocks.

Do I need special tools to install these knobs, or can I do it myself?

Installation is straightforward and typically takes less than 5 minutes per knob with no special tools required. Simply pull the old knob straight off (some gentle wiggling may help) and push the new one onto the shaft until it seats firmly. The knobs use a D-shaped shaft design that only allows one orientation. If a knob feels loose, check that the internal clip hasn't been damaged during removal of the old knob.

What finish options are available, and which ones match the factory interior best?

We stock several finishes including chrome, black chrome, satin black, and brushed aluminum. For trucks with the standard gray interior, chrome or brushed aluminum typically provides the best match. The Elite and Diamond VIT interiors pair well with black chrome or satin black finishes. All finishes are designed to complement Cascadia's existing dash trim and switch bezels.

Why are my new knobs wobbling or falling off after installation?

Loose knobs are usually caused by worn or damaged shaft clips inside the knob bore. When removing old knobs, the internal retention clips can sometimes break or stretch. Our knobs include new clips, but if the control shaft itself is worn or undersized (common on high-mileage trucks), you may need to apply a small amount of thread locker or electrical tape to the shaft for a tighter fit. Never force a knob that doesn't seat properly, as this can damage the control module behind the dash.
