Ford F350 Truck Fuel Tanks

Frequently Asked Questions About Ford F350 Truck Fuel Tanks

Will a replacement fuel tank fit my specific F350 model year and cab/bed configuration?

Fuel tank shape, capacity, and mounting points vary depending on your F350's model year, cab style, bed length, and whether it has a diesel or gasoline engine. Always check the fitment details listed on each product page and match them against your truck's specifications, or reach out to our team with your VIN or truck details before ordering to confirm compatibility.

What material are these fuel tanks made from, and how does it affect durability?

Fuel tanks are typically constructed from either steel or aluminum. Steel tanks tend to be more affordable and rugged for heavy-duty use, while aluminum tanks resist corrosion better and are lighter in weight. Consider your driving conditions, exposure to road salt or moisture, and budget when choosing between the two.

Does the tank come with the sending unit, straps, and hardware needed for installation?

This varies by product and manufacturer. Some fuel tanks are sold as a complete kit with mounting straps, hardware, and a sending unit included, while others are sold as the tank only. Review the product description carefully to see exactly what is included, and check whether your existing sending unit and straps are compatible if they're not part of the package.

Can I install a replacement fuel tank myself, or should I have a professional do it?

Installation involves working with fuel lines, electrical connections for the sending unit, and properly supporting the tank during mounting, which can be hazardous if not done correctly. Many experienced DIYers with the right tools and safety precautions can handle this job, but if you're not comfortable working around fuel systems, we recommend having a qualified mechanic complete the installation.

Are these fuel tanks legal for on-road use and do they meet the same standards as the original equipment tank?

Replacement fuel tanks in this category are designed to serve as direct or near-direct replacements for the original tank on your F350. That said, regulations and standards can differ by manufacturer, so it's a good idea to verify that the specific tank you're considering meets applicable safety and emissions standards for your state or region before installation.
