Ford Aeromax Truck Deck Plates & Air Line Boxes

Frequently Asked Questions About Ford Aeromax Truck Deck Plates & Air Line Boxes

What are deck plates and air line boxes used for on a Ford Aeromax?

Deck plates and air line boxes are mounted behind the cab on the back of the frame to organize and protect the electrical cables and air lines that connect the tractor to the trailer. The deck plate provides a flat mounting surface while the air line box holds the glad hands and electrical connections in place, keeping them accessible and shielded from road debris.

Will this deck plate or air line box fit my Ford Aeromax without modification?

Most deck plates and air line boxes in this category are designed to bolt on using the factory mounting pattern for the Ford Aeromax, but frame width, deck height, and prior modifications to your truck can affect fitment. Check the listed dimensions and mounting hole spacing against your truck before ordering, and reach out to our team if you are unsure about compatibility.

What materials and finishes are these deck plates and air line boxes available in?

These parts are commonly available in stainless steel, aluminum, and painted or powder-coated steel. Stainless steel options typically offer better corrosion resistance and a polished look, while painted steel is often a more budget-friendly choice. Consider your climate and how much road exposure the part will see when choosing a finish.

How difficult is it to install a new deck plate or air line box?

Installation generally involves removing the factory or existing unit and bolting the new one into place using the existing mounting holes. Basic hand tools are usually sufficient, though you may need to reroute or reconnect air lines and electrical cables during the swap. If your replacement part has a different hole pattern than the original, some drilling may be required.

How do I clean and maintain a stainless steel deck plate or air line box?

Regular washing with mild soap and water helps prevent buildup of road salt, grease, and grime that can dull the finish over time. For stainless pieces, a dedicated stainless cleaner or polish applied periodically will help maintain shine and resist surface staining. Avoid harsh abrasive pads that can scratch the surface finish.
