International 4700-4900 Dash Knobs

Frequently Asked Questions About International 4700-4900 Dash Knobs

What types of dash knobs are included in this category?

This category covers the various knobs found on the dashboard of International 4700 and 4900 model trucks, including headlight switch knobs, HVAC (heater and air conditioning) control knobs, wiper switch knobs, dimmer knobs, and other climate or accessory control knobs. These are the small plastic or rubber components that attach to the switch shafts on your dash panel.

Will these knobs fit my specific truck model and year?

Dash knob styles can vary depending on the model year and dash configuration of your International 4700 or 4900 truck. Before ordering, compare the shape, shaft size, and mounting style of your existing knob to the product photos and listed specifications, or check your original part number if available. If you are unsure, our sales team can help confirm fitment before you purchase.

Are these knobs OEM or aftermarket, and how does that affect quality?

We carry both OEM and quality aftermarket replacement knobs, and each listing will specify which type you are purchasing. OEM knobs are made to match the original factory fit, finish, and markings exactly, while aftermarket knobs are built to fit and function the same way, often at a lower cost. Either option should hold up to regular cab use, but OEM knobs typically match factory labeling and texture most closely.

How do I install a replacement dash knob?

Most dash knobs simply push, snap, or thread onto a switch shaft behind the dashboard. In many cases, you can remove the old knob by pulling it straight off or unscrewing a small retaining nut, then press or thread the new knob into place. Since switch designs vary, we recommend checking your original knob's attachment method before installing to avoid damaging the switch underneath.

What should I do if my knob is missing its label or the text has worn off?

Faded or missing labels are one of the most common reasons drivers replace dash knobs, since worn text can make it hard to identify functions like defrost, fan speed, or lights at a glance. Choosing a knob with clearly molded or printed labeling, rather than a painted-on finish, will generally hold up better over time and stay legible longer under regular use.
