Ford F650-F750 Truck Deck Plates & Air Line Boxes

Frequently Asked Questions About Ford F650-F750 Truck Deck Plates & Air Line Boxes

What are deck plates and air line boxes used for on a Ford F650-F750?

Deck plates and air line boxes are mounted behind the cab to organize and protect the electrical connections and air lines that run between the tractor and trailer. The deck plate provides a flat mounting surface for glad hands and electrical sockets, while the air line box houses and shields the hose connections from road debris, moisture, and physical damage.

What materials are these deck plates and air line boxes made from, and what finish options are available?

Most deck plates and air line boxes are constructed from aluminum or stainless steel for corrosion resistance and durability. Finish options typically include polished, brushed, or diamond plate textures, allowing you to match the look of other stainless or aluminum accessories on your truck while also providing some slip resistance underfoot.

Will a deck plate or air line box fit my specific F650 or F750 model year?

Fitment can vary depending on cab configuration, frame width, and factory mounting points, which may differ across model years. Check the product listing for specific year and model compatibility, and compare your truck's existing mounting hole pattern or bracket setup before ordering to confirm a proper fit.

What is involved in installing a replacement deck plate or air line box?

Installation generally involves removing the factory hardware securing the original unit, transferring or reinstalling the air lines and electrical connections, and bolting the new plate or box into place using the existing mounting holes. Basic hand tools are typically sufficient, though you should be prepared to disconnect and reconnect air and electrical lines carefully to avoid leaks or wiring damage.

How do I keep my deck plate or air line box looking good and functioning properly over time?

Regular washing with mild soap and water helps prevent buildup of road salt, grease, and grime, especially on polished or diamond plate finishes. Periodically check that mounting bolts remain tight from vibration and inspect air line grommets or seals for wear, since a damaged seal can allow moisture into the box and lead to corrosion or connection issues.
