Western Star Constellation Truck Fuel Tanks

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Star Constellation Truck Fuel Tanks

Will this fuel tank fit my Western Star Constellation without modification?

Fuel tanks for the Western Star Constellation are typically designed to match specific mounting bracket configurations, tank capacities, and frame rail widths used on that model. Because tank dimensions and mounting hole patterns can vary by model year and trim, its important to verify your trucks capacity requirements and existing bracket setup against the product specifications before ordering to ensure a proper fit.

What materials are these fuel tanks made from, and how do they hold up over time?

Replacement fuel tanks are commonly available in aluminum or steel construction. Aluminum tanks are lighter weight and naturally resistant to rust, making them a popular choice for reducing overall vehicle weight, while steel tanks tend to be more heavily built. Both options can provide long service life when properly maintained, but the right choice often depends on your priorities around weight savings versus overall durability.

What fuel tank capacities are available for the Constellation?

Fuel tanks for this model are typically offered in a range of capacities to match different chassis configurations and duty cycles. Checking the gallon capacity listed for each tank against your trucks original equipment specifications will help you select a replacement that meets your fuel range needs.

What is involved in installing a replacement fuel tank?

Installation generally involves removing the old tank from its mounting brackets, disconnecting fuel lines and sending unit wiring, then transferring or reusing the straps and brackets to mount the new tank in place. Because this work involves fuel system components, it should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with proper fuel line connections, venting, and safety precautions.

Do these fuel tanks come with mounting hardware, straps, and fittings included?

This varies by product listing, as some fuel tanks are sold as a bare tank while others include straps, mounting brackets, or fittings. Always review the product description carefully to confirm exactly what is included, and check whether you will need to source additional hardware such as straps, sending units, or fuel line fittings separately.
