Western Star 5700XE Truck Hood Replacement Parts

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Star 5700XE Truck Hood Replacement Parts

Will these hood parts fit my Western Star 5700XE regardless of model year?

Most hood replacement parts are designed to fit a specific range of production years for the 5700XE, since Western Star has made updates to hood styling and mounting hardware over time. Always check the fitment details listed on each product page, and if you're unsure, have your VIN or truck build sheet handy so our team can confirm the part matches your exact configuration before you order.

Are these hood components made from fiberglass or metal, and does it matter?

Western Star 5700XE hoods and hood panels are typically molded from fiberglass composite, which is the original material used by the manufacturer for weight savings and corrosion resistance. When shopping for replacement parts, check the product description for material specifications, as fiberglass panels may require different handling, repair techniques, and paint prep compared to steel or aluminum components.

Do these hood parts come pre-painted or primed, or will I need to paint them myself?

This varies by part and manufacturer. Some replacement hood panels and components ship primed and ready for paint, while others may be available in a gel-coat or unfinished state. Check the specific listing for finish details, and factor in paint and clear coat costs separately if the part doesn't come color-matched to your truck.

Can I install a replacement hood or hood panel myself, or do I need a body shop?

Smaller components like latches, hinges, mirror brackets, or trim pieces are generally straightforward for anyone comfortable with basic hand tools. Full hood panels or structural components, however, often require careful alignment, fiberglass repair skills, and sometimes assistance due to their size and weight. If you're replacing a full hood assembly or repairing significant damage, having a body shop or experienced technician handle the install helps ensure proper fit and finish.

What should I do if my hood was damaged in a collision and I'm not sure which parts I need?

Start by inspecting the full extent of the damage, since hood assemblies are often made up of multiple sections, brackets, and hardware that can be affected even if the damage looks isolated. Take clear photos and note your truck's VIN and model year, then reach out to our parts specialists. We can help identify exactly which components need replacement so you're not ordering parts you don't need or missing ones you do.
