Volvo VNL Gen III Mud Flaps

Frequently Asked Questions About Volvo VNL Gen III Mud Flaps

What years and models are these mud flaps compatible with?

These mud flaps are specifically designed for Volvo VNL Generation III trucks manufactured from 2018?present. They fit all VNL models including the 300, 400, 640, 740, and 860.

What material are these mud flaps made from and how durable are they?

Our Volvo VNL Gen III mud flaps are constructed from heavy-duty rubber compounds or anti-sail polymer materials, depending on the specific product you choose. The rubber options typically feature 3/8" to 1/2" thickness and are reinforced with nylon cord for tear resistance. They're designed to withstand extreme temperatures from -40?F to 180?F, road chemicals, and UV exposure. Most customers report 3-5 years of service life under normal highway conditions.

Do I need to drill any holes or will these bolt directly to existing mounting points?

Most of our VNL Gen III mud flaps utilize the existing factory mounting points and require no drilling. The standard installation uses the OEM bracket holes behind the rear wheels. However, some wider or custom mud flap options may require drilling 2-4 additional holes for proper support. Each product listing specifies whether drilling is required, and installation hardware is typically included.

What sizes and styles are available for the VNL Gen III?

We offer mud flaps in standard widths of 24", 30", and 36" with lengths ranging from 24" to 36". Style options include plain black, stainless steel weighted bottom strips, anti-sail designs with angled cuts, and custom logo options. Quarter fender mud flaps are also available in both smooth and diamond plate finishes. The 24" x 30" anti-sail is the most popular size for highway applications.

How difficult is the installation and what tools do I need?

Installation typically takes 30-45 minutes per mud flap set. You'll need basic hand tools including a socket set (usually 1/2" and 9/16"), drill with metal bits (if drilling is required), and potentially a torque wrench. The process involves removing the existing mud flaps if present, cleaning the mounting area, and bolting the new flaps. If your hardware is old and corroded, we offer replacement hardware as a kit to purchase. Many drivers complete this installation themselves, though some prefer professional installation for custom or drilled applications.
