Frequently Asked Questions About Peterbilt 567/579 Exhaust Parts

Will these exhaust parts fit my specific Peterbilt 567 or 579 model year?

Most aftermarket exhaust components for Peterbilt 567/579 models are designed to fit trucks from 2013 to present. However, there are some variations between early production years (2013-2017) and newer models (2018+), particularly in mounting bracket locations and DPF/DEF system configurations. Always verify your truck's exact year and engine type (Paccar MX-13, Cummins ISX15, etc.) before ordering. If you're unsure, contact us with your OEM and we'll confirm compatibility.

What's the difference between aluminized steel and 304 stainless steel exhaust components?

Aluminized steel exhaust parts typically last 3-5 years under normal conditions and are more budget-friendly, making them ideal for trucks with moderate usage or those planning to trade in. 304 stainless steel components can last 7-10+ years and resist corrosion better, especially important for trucks operating in salt-heavy regions or with frequent washouts. Stainless steel also maintains its appearance longer but costs approximately 40-60% more than aluminized options.

Can I install these exhaust parts myself, or do I need a shop?

Basic exhaust stack replacements and chrome tips can typically be installed in 1-2 hours with standard tools. However, complete exhaust system overhauls, especially those involving DPF/DEF components or turbo connections, require specialized equipment and knowledge. Most DIY-friendly installations include straight pipes, elbows, and mufflers that use standard 5-inch clamps. Always support the exhaust system properly during installation to prevent damage to turbo outlets or frame-mounted brackets.

What exhaust styles and finishes are available for the Peterbilt 567/579?

Popular options include curved stacks, straight pipes, miter-cut ends, and turn-out tips. Chrome finishes remain the most popular for their classic look, while black powder-coated options are gaining popularity for their durability and modern appearance. Bull hauler styles with 6-inch or 7-inch diameters are available for those wanting a more aggressive look. Most stacks come in lengths from 48 to 96 inches to accommodate different sleeper configurations.

How do aftermarket exhaust modifications affect my engine warranty and emissions compliance?

Any modifications to factory emissions equipment (DPF, DEF, EGR) will void your engine warranty and violate federal EPA regulations. However, replacing components downstream of the DPF/DEF system, such as stack pipes, tips, and cosmetic shields, typically won't affect your warranty. Always maintain factory emissions equipment for on-highway use. For show trucks or off-road applications, consult local regulations before making modifications.
