Kenworth T660 Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth T660 Fuel Tank Covers & Bras

What are fuel tank covers and bras, and what do they do?

Fuel tank covers and bras are protective and decorative coverings that fit over the fuel tanks on your Kenworth T660. They shield the tank surface from road debris, rust, and minor scratches while also giving the truck a customized look. Many drivers use them to protect chrome or polished tanks from pitting and corrosion caused by salt, sand, and everyday wear.

Will a fuel tank cover fit my specific tank size and configuration?

Fit depends on your T660's tank diameter and length, since Kenworth trucks were built with different tank sizes and mounting configurations over the years. Before ordering, measure your tank's diameter and length and compare those measurements to the product's listed specifications. If you're unsure, our team can help you confirm the right fit based on your truck's tank dimensions.

What materials and finish options are available?

Fuel tank covers and bras are typically available in materials like stainless steel or durable heavy-duty fabric, depending on the style. Stainless steel covers often come in finishes such as diamond plate, smooth polished, or brushed, while fabric bras are usually offered in weather-resistant textiles designed to handle sun, rain, and road grime. Choosing the right material comes down to whether you want a permanent metal accent or a removable, lower-cost protective layer.

How difficult is it to install a fuel tank cover or bra?

Most fuel tank covers and bras are designed for straightforward installation using straps, buckles, or existing mounting points, and many drivers install them without professional help using basic tools. Metal covers may require more careful fitting and occasional drilling or clamping depending on the design, so reviewing the included instructions before starting is recommended. If a cover involves modifying tank straps or brackets, taking your time to ensure proper alignment will help avoid rattling or shifting during transport.

How do I clean and maintain a fuel tank cover or bra to keep it looking good?

Stainless steel covers generally hold up well with regular washing and occasional polishing to prevent water spots and maintain shine, especially on diamond plate or mirror finishes. Fabric bras should be checked periodically for loose straps or wear points and cleaned with mild soap and water to remove buildup from road grime. Routine maintenance not only keeps the appearance sharp but also helps you catch any fitment issues early, such as loosening straps or rubbing against the tank.
