International HX Elbows, Piping & Comp.

Frequently Asked Questions About International HX Elbows, Piping & Comp.

What exactly are HX elbows and piping components used for?

These parts are part of the exhaust and charge air system on International HX series trucks, connecting components such as the turbo, charge air cooler, and exhaust aftertreatment system. Elbows and piping direct airflow and exhaust gases between these components, so they need to hold up to high heat and pressure while maintaining a tight seal.

How do I know if a specific elbow or pipe will fit my truck?

Fitment depends on the exact International HX model, engine configuration, and model year, since routing and connection points can vary. Always check the part number against your truck's OEM part or VIN-specific specs before ordering, and compare mounting flange size, angle, and overall length to your existing component.

What material are these elbows and piping components made from?

Most HX elbows and piping are constructed from durable steel or aluminized steel designed to withstand high exhaust temperatures and resist corrosion over time. Some charge air piping may be aluminum, depending on its location in the system. Material choice affects both durability and weight, so it's worth confirming what best matches your original component.

Can I install these parts myself, or do I need a professional?

Basic elbow or piping replacement can often be done with standard tools if you're comfortable working under the hood or around the exhaust system, since installation typically involves loosening clamps or bolts, removing the old section, and fitting the new one in place. However, because these components are tied to exhaust and turbo systems, we recommend having a qualified diesel technician handle the job if you're unsure, to ensure proper seating and avoid leaks.

Are these parts new, used, or reconditioned?

Availability varies by listing, so check each product page for details on condition. We list whether a part is new, used, or reconditioned, along with any relevant notes on wear or testing, so you can choose based on your budget and how the part will be used.
