International 4700-4900 Hoods

Frequently Asked Questions About International 4700-4900 Hoods

Will this hood fit my specific International 4700 or 4900 model year?

International 4700 and 4900 trucks were produced over many years with some variations in body style and hood design. Before ordering, check the year, make, and model of your truck against the fitment details listed on each product page, and compare mounting points and hood style with your existing hood. If you are unsure, our sales team can help confirm compatibility using your VIN or truck details.

What material are these hoods made from, and how durable are they?

Replacement hoods for the International 4700-4900 are typically available in fiberglass, though material and construction can vary by manufacturer. Fiberglass hoods are valued for being lightweight and resistant to denting, but they can crack or chip if struck hard enough. Always check the product description for the specific material used on the hood you are considering.

Do these hoods come primed, painted, or unpainted?

Most replacement hoods are sold unpainted or in gelcoat/primer finish, requiring paint to match your truck's color. Some listings may offer a primed finish ready for paint prep. Check each product listing carefully to confirm the finish included, since this affects the additional prep work and paint matching you will need to do before installation.

Does the hood include hardware, hinges, or latches, or are those sold separately?

This varies by product and manufacturer. Some hoods are sold as a bare shell only, while others may include mounting hardware. Hinges, latches, and other hardware are often sold separately since these components can wear out independently of the hood itself. Review the product description or contact us to confirm exactly what is included before you order.

What should I know about installing a replacement hood myself?

Installing a hood typically involves transferring or reinstalling hinges, latches, headlight and grille components, and sometimes hood springs or actuators from your old hood or from separately purchased parts. Having an extra set of hands is recommended due to the size and weight of the hood, and taking photos of your original setup before removal can make reassembly easier. If you are not comfortable with this level of bodywork, a professional installation is a good option.
