Freightliner SD 108-122 Elbows, Piping & Comp.

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner SD 108-122 Elbows, Piping & Comp.

What types of parts are included in this category?

This category covers exhaust and piping components designed for Freightliner SD series trucks, including the 108SD, 114SD, and 122SD models. You'll find items such as exhaust elbows, connector pipes, and related fittings used to route exhaust gases from the engine through the aftertreatment system and out to the tailpipe or stack.

Will these elbows and piping fit my specific Freightliner SD model and year?

Fitment can vary between the 108SD, 114SD, and 122SD depending on cab configuration, engine platform, and model year. Always check the listed part number and compatibility details on each product page before ordering, and compare it against your truck's existing component or OEM part number to confirm a proper match.

What materials are these parts made from, and how do they hold up over time?

Most exhaust elbows and piping in this category are made from aluminized or stainless steel to withstand high exhaust temperatures and resist corrosion. Stainless steel options generally offer better long-term durability in harsh road and weather conditions, while aluminized steel provides a more budget-friendly alternative with solid heat resistance.

Are these parts OEM or aftermarket, and does it matter for my truck?

We carry a mix of OEM and quality aftermarket exhaust components. Aftermarket parts are built to match OEM specifications for fit and performance, often at a lower cost. If you're replacing a part on a truck still under warranty or need an exact factory match, an OEM piece may be the safer choice.

Can I install these elbows and piping myself, or do I need a professional?

Many drivers and fleet technicians with basic mechanical experience can replace exhaust elbows and piping sections using standard hand tools, especially when the new part matches the original setup. However, if your installation involves welding, cutting, or working near the aftertreatment system, it's best handled by a qualified technician to maintain proper exhaust flow and emissions compliance.
