Freightliner M2 Business Class Dash Knobs

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner M2 Business Class Dash Knobs

What are dash knobs used for on the Freightliner M2 Business Class?

Dash knobs are the control knobs used to operate various functions on the dashboard, such as headlight switches, HVAC controls (heat, defrost, and fan speed), wiper controls, and other panel-mounted switches. Over time these knobs can crack, fade, or break off due to daily wear, sun exposure, and frequent handling, which is why replacements are commonly needed.

Will these dash knobs fit my specific model year of Freightliner M2?

Dash knob designs can vary slightly across production years due to updates in dashboard layouts and switch styles. Before purchasing, check the product listing for any noted year ranges or compatible part numbers, and compare the shaft size and shape to your existing knob if possible. If you are unsure, contacting our parts team with your truck's VIN or the original part number can help confirm a proper match.

Are these knobs made from OEM materials, or are they aftermarket replacements?

Our listings include both genuine OEM knobs and quality aftermarket alternatives, depending on the specific part. OEM knobs are manufactured to match the original fit, finish, and markings exactly, while aftermarket options are built to provide similar form and function, often at a lower cost. Each product listing specifies whether the knob is OEM or aftermarket so you can choose based on your preference and budget.

How do I install a replacement dash knob?

Most dash knobs are designed for simple, tool-free installation. In most cases, the old knob pulls straight off the control shaft, and the new knob pushes on until it seats securely in place. Some knobs may include a small retaining clip or set screw, so it is a good idea to inspect your old knob before removal to see how it is secured. If a knob feels stuck, gentle wiggling while pulling straight out usually works better than twisting.

Will the new knob match the labeling and finish of the rest of my dashboard?

We carry knobs designed to closely match the original labeling, symbols, and finish used on the Freightliner M2 Business Class dashboard. However, finish and printing can vary slightly between OEM and aftermarket options, or if your dashboard has faded over time from sun exposure. If matching the exact factory appearance is important, OEM knobs are generally the more reliable choice.
