Freightliner Columbia 112/120 Dash Knobs

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Columbia 112/120 Dash Knobs

What do dash knobs control on a Freightliner Columbia 112/120?

Dash knobs are the control switches and dials mounted on the dashboard that operate functions such as heating and air conditioning, headlight and dimmer switches, wiper controls, fan speed, and other cab accessories. If a knob is cracked, loose, or missing, it can make it difficult to properly adjust these systems.

Will these dash knobs fit my specific model year of Columbia 112/120?

Freightliner made changes to dash and console designs across different production years of the Columbia 112/120. Before ordering, check the knob's shaft size, shape, and mounting style against your existing part, and compare it to the fitment details listed on the product page to confirm it matches your truck's year and dash configuration.

What materials are these dash knobs made from, and how durable are they?

Most replacement dash knobs are made from durable plastic or a plastic-and-metal combination designed to withstand daily handling and cab temperature changes. They are built to match the look and feel of factory knobs, though actual wear resistance can vary by manufacturer, so choosing a reputable brand helps ensure long-term durability.

How do I install a replacement dash knob?

Most dash knobs are designed to simply pull off or unscrew from the existing shaft or switch stem, with the new knob then pushing or screwing on in its place. No wiring or electrical work is typically required since the knob is just the outer control piece. If a knob feels stuck, gentle, even pressure while wiggling it usually loosens it without damaging the underlying switch.

Are these dash knobs labeled to match the original factory markings?

Many replacement knobs include the same or similar symbols, letters, or text as the original factory knobs, such as markings for fan speed, temperature, or defrost. If matching the original labeling is important for your application, review the product photos and description closely to confirm the markings align with your truck's setup.
