Freightliner Century 112/120 Hoods

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Century 112/120 Hoods

Will this hood fit my specific Freightliner Century model year?

Freightliner Century trucks were produced over several years with some variation in hood design and mounting points. Always check the fitment details listed on each product page, including model year range and cab configuration (112 or 120), before ordering. If you are unsure whether a hood matches your truck, contacting our sales team with your VIN or truck details is the best way to confirm compatibility.

What material are these hoods made from, and how does it affect durability?

Replacement hoods for the Century 112/120 are typically available in fiberglass, though composite options may also be offered depending on the manufacturer. Fiberglass hoods are valued for their strength and resistance to denting compared to sheet metal, but proper handling during installation is important to avoid cracking or chipping the gel coat finish.

Do these hoods come pre-painted, or will I need to paint them myself?

Most hoods in this category ship in a primed or gel-coat finish and are not painted to match your truck's specific color. You should expect to have the hood painted after purchase to match your fleet or personal color scheme. Some sellers may offer painting services or pre-finished options, so check the product listing for details.

What is involved in installing a replacement hood, and can I do it myself?

Installing a Century 112/120 hood generally involves removing the damaged hood, transferring or replacing hinges, latches, and other hardware, and mounting the new hood in place. While experienced DIYers with the right tools and shop space can handle this job, many owners choose to have it installed by a body shop or truck repair facility to ensure proper alignment and fit, especially since these hoods are large, heavy, and need careful handling.

Are headlights, grilles, and other components included with the hood, or sold separately?

In most cases, hoods are sold as standalone components without headlights, grilles, brackets, or other hardware attached. You will likely need to transfer these parts from your original hood or purchase them separately. Always review the product description carefully to see exactly what is included before completing your order.
