Western Star Constellation Front Axle Air Ride Kit

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Star Constellation Front Axle Air Ride Kit

What does a front axle air ride kit actually replace or upgrade on my Western Star Constellation?

This kit is designed to replace the front suspension air spring components on the Constellation, converting or restoring the front axle to an air-ride setup. It typically includes the air spring (air bag) and related mounting hardware needed to support the front end and help smooth out the ride compared to a leaf-spring or worn factory air spring setup.

Will this kit fit my specific Constellation model year and configuration?

Western Star Constellation trucks were built with different front suspension configurations depending on model year, axle rating, and options selected at the factory. Because of this, it is important to confirm your truck's chassis and suspension specs, including axle weight rating and mounting configuration, against the kit's listed specifications before ordering. If you are unsure, having your VIN or axle information on hand will help us or our parts team verify fitment.

What quality or brand of air spring components are included in this kit?

Our air ride kits use components sourced from reputable heavy-duty truck suspension manufacturers that are built to handle daily on-highway use. We aim to stock parts that match or meet OEM specifications for durability and performance, so you are not sacrificing reliability for cost.

Can I install this air ride kit myself, or should I have a professional do it?

Many experienced diesel technicians and shop owners install front axle air ride components themselves, but this job does involve working under the front end of the truck, disconnecting air lines, and properly torquing suspension hardware. If you are comfortable with front suspension work and have the right tools and jack stands rated for the job, self-installation is doable. If not, we recommend having a qualified heavy-duty truck shop handle the install to ensure everything is torqued and sealed correctly.

How do I know if my current air ride components are worn out and need replacing?

Common signs that your front axle air spring or related components need attention include a sagging or uneven front end, a rough or bouncy ride, visible cracking or dry rot on the air spring bellows, or audible air leaks near the front suspension. If you are noticing any of these symptoms, it is a good indicator that it is time to inspect and likely replace the affected parts in this kit.
