Western Star 4700 Truck Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About Western Star 4700 Truck Lights

Will these lights fit my Western Star 4700 without modification?

Lights listed in this category are designed to match the factory mounting points and connectors used on the Western Star 4700, so most items install as a direct replacement for the original equipment. However, production changes can occur across model years, so it's a good idea to compare your existing light's shape, connector type, and mounting bolt pattern to the product listing before ordering.

Are these lights DOT compliant and legal for on-road use?

Headlights, tail lights, marker lights, and turn signals sold for the 4700 are manufactured to meet applicable DOT and SAE lighting standards for on-road commercial use. If a specific certification matters for your fleet's compliance requirements, check the product description or reach out to us before purchasing to confirm the specifications for that particular part.

What's the difference between halogen, LED, and stock-style options?

Halogen lights typically cost less upfront and closely replicate the factory look, while LED lights offer brighter output, faster response time, and generally last longer since there's no filament to burn out. Stock-style or OE-style lights are built to replace what came on the truck originally, so if you want the closest match to factory appearance, that's usually the better route; if you're prioritizing visibility and longevity, LED is worth the extra cost.

How difficult is it to install these lights myself?

Most headlights, marker lights, and tail lights in this category are designed for straightforward bolt-on installation using the existing wiring harness and mounting hardware, so many customers handle the swap themselves with basic hand tools. That said, some assemblies may require minor wiring adjustments or connector changes depending on the exact light and your truck's configuration, so review the installation notes on the product page beforehand.

Why is one side of my lights dimmer or discolored compared to the other?

Uneven brightness or a yellowed, cloudy lens is usually the result of sun exposure, road debris, or age causing the lens to oxidize, rather than a defect in a new replacement light. If you're noticing this on a new part shortly after installation, check the wiring connection and ground first, since a poor connection is a more common cause of dimness than a faulty bulb or LED module.
