Sterling L-Series Truck Mud Flaps

Frequently Asked Questions About Sterling L-Series Truck Mud Flaps

Will these mud flaps fit my Sterling L-Series truck without modification?

Mud flaps in this category are designed to work with the Sterling L-Series mounting points, but fitment can vary depending on the model year and whether your truck has factory or aftermarket brackets. We recommend checking the listed specifications and measurements for each product and comparing them to your existing flaps or mounting hardware before ordering to ensure a proper fit.

What materials are these mud flaps made from, and how long will they last?

Sterling L-Series mud flaps are typically offered in rubber or poly-based materials, with rubber being more flexible in cold weather and poly options generally offering more rigidity and resistance to curling over time. Durability depends on driving conditions, exposure to road debris, and climate, but all flaps listed are built for regular commercial use on the road.

Do these mud flaps come with mounting hardware, or do I need to buy that separately?

This varies by product, so check each listing carefully. Some mud flaps include mounting hardware such as brackets, bolts, or weighted stiffeners, while others are sold as the flap only. If hardware is not included, we carry mounting kits and brackets separately that are compatible with most standard mud flap installations.

Are these mud flaps compliant with state and DOT length or coverage regulations?

Mud flap regulations vary by state, particularly regarding width, ground clearance, and coverage behind the rearmost axle. While our mud flaps are manufactured to common industry sizing standards, it is the operator's responsibility to confirm that the installed flaps meet the specific regulations for the states in which the truck operates.

Can I install these mud flaps myself, or do I need a professional?

Most mud flaps in this category can be installed with basic hand tools such as a wrench or drill, and many customers install them without professional help. Installation generally involves aligning the flap with the existing mounting holes or bracket and securing it with bolts or clamps. If your truck requires new brackets or if you are unsure about proper positioning for legal clearance, a professional installation is a good option.
