Sterling Acterra Truck Mirrors & Acc.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sterling Acterra Truck Mirrors & Acc.

Will these mirrors fit my Sterling Acterra without modification?

Most mirrors in this category are designed to bolt directly onto the factory mounting arms and brackets used on the Sterling Acterra, so no cutting or drilling is typically required. However, because the Acterra was produced over several model years and used in different cab configurations, it's a good idea to check your truck's year and arm style against the product listing or reach out to our team before ordering to confirm a proper fit.

What's the difference between the mirror head, the mounting arm, and the brackets, and do I need to replace all of them?

The mirror head is the glass and housing assembly, the mounting arm is the metal support that extends from the cab to the mirror head, and the brackets attach the arm to the cab. If your existing arm and brackets are still straight and undamaged, you often only need to replace the mirror head. If the arm is bent or the brackets are cracked, replacing those components individually is usually more cost-effective than buying a full assembly.

Are heated and remote-controlled mirrors compatible with my truck's wiring?

Heated and power/remote mirrors require your truck to already be equipped with the corresponding wiring harness and controls from the factory. If your Acterra came with manual mirrors, adding heated or remote features will typically require additional wiring work. Check your current mirror's connector and dash controls to confirm compatibility before purchasing an electric or heated replacement.

What materials and finishes are available for mirror heads and housings?

Mirror housings are commonly available in durable plastic or chrome-plated finishes, while the mirror glass itself is typically flat, convex, or a combination style for wide-angle visibility. Chrome finishes offer a polished appearance and are generally easy to wipe clean, while black plastic housings tend to resist minor scratches and show less road grime over time.

Can I install these mirrors myself, or do I need a professional?

Most mirror heads, arms, and brackets are designed for straightforward installation using basic hand tools like wrenches and screwdrivers, and many drivers replace them without a shop visit. If your setup involves heated elements or power controls that require wiring into the cab, you may want a technician to handle the electrical connections to ensure everything functions correctly and safely.
