Mack CH/CHN/CHU Truck Gauges & Switches

Frequently Asked Questions About Mack CH/CHN/CHU Truck Gauges & Switches

Will these gauges and switches fit any Mack CH, CHN, or CHU truck regardless of model year?

Mack made several changes to dash and instrument cluster layouts across CH, CHN, and CHU production years, so fitment can vary. Before ordering, check your truck's model year and, if possible, compare part numbers on your existing gauge or switch to the product listing. If you're unsure, our team can help confirm compatibility before you buy.

How do I know if I need to replace the whole gauge or just a bulb or sensor?

If a gauge reads inaccurately, flickers, or stays at zero, the issue may be a bad sensor or wiring connection rather than the gauge itself. However, if the gauge face is cracked, the needle doesn't move at all, or the housing is damaged, replacement is usually the right call. Testing the sensor first with a multimeter can save you from replacing a gauge that isn't actually the problem.

Are these gauges and switches OEM parts or aftermarket replacements?

Our catalog includes both OEM and quality aftermarket options for Mack CH/CHN/CHU dash components. Each product listing specifies whether the part is OEM or aftermarket, so you can choose based on your budget and preference for factory-matched fit and finish.

What tools do I need to install a replacement gauge or switch?

Most gauge and switch replacements only require basic hand tools like a screwdriver and a small trim panel tool to release the dash bezel without cracking it. You'll also want to disconnect the battery before working on electrical components to avoid shorts or unwanted warning lights. Always refer to your truck's service manual for the exact removal steps for your dash configuration.

Why does my new gauge or switch not work the same as the one I replaced?

This is often caused by a mismatched part number, a loose wiring connection, or a difference between electrical and mechanical (cable-driven) gauge types. Double-check that the replacement part matches your original in both function and connector type before assuming the part itself is defective.
