International IH Cabover Driving Lights

Frequently Asked Questions About International IH Cabover Driving Lights

Will these driving lights fit my specific International IH cabover model?

International produced several different cabover models over the years, including the CO and Transtar series, and cab configurations changed between production runs. Because of this, mounting locations and bracket styles can vary. Before ordering, check the listed model and year range for each light or lighting bracket, and compare it against your truck's cab style to confirm a proper fit.

Are these lights DOT compliant for on-road use?

Most driving lights sold for cabover applications are designed to meet DOT requirements for auxiliary lighting, but compliance can depend on how and where the light is mounted, as well as local regulations. Always check the product listing for DOT or SAE certification markings, and verify that your finished setup meets the lighting laws in your operating area.

Do these driving lights come with the wiring and mounting hardware included?

This varies by product. Some driving lights include a wiring harness, mounting brackets, and hardware, while others are sold as the light housing only and require separate wiring or brackets. Review the product description and included parts list closely so you know what you are getting and what additional components you may need to complete the installation.

What is the difference between halogen, LED, and incandescent options?

Driving lights for IH cabovers are available in a few different bulb technologies. LED lights typically run cooler and last longer, halogen lights are a common factory-style replacement with a warmer light output, and incandescent bulbs are generally the most budget-friendly but have a shorter service life. Choose based on your priorities for brightness, longevity, and budget.

Can I install these lights myself, or do I need a professional?

Many drivers and owner-operators install replacement driving lights themselves using basic hand tools, especially when the new light is a direct bolt-on replacement with a matching connector. If your installation requires splicing wires, running new wiring, or modifying mounting points, it may be worth having a qualified technician handle the job to ensure proper function and a secure fit.
