International DuraStar Chrome Stacks & Tops

Frequently Asked Questions About International DuraStar Chrome Stacks & Tops

Will these chrome stacks and tops fit my International DuraStar?

Most stacks and tops in this category are built to common exhaust diameters used on International DuraStar models, but exact fitment can vary depending on the model year and factory exhaust configuration on your truck. Before ordering, check the listed diameter and length against your existing exhaust pipe or stack to confirm a proper match.

What is the difference between a stack and a stack top, and do I need both?

The stack is the exhaust pipe itself that runs up from the muffler or turbo, while the top (or cap) is the decorative or functional piece that attaches to the top of the stack. Some trucks only need a replacement top if the existing stack is in good condition, while others may need a full stack replacement. Measure your current setup to determine what you actually need before purchasing.

What material are these chrome stacks and tops made from, and how do I maintain the finish?

Most chrome stacks and tops are made from chrome-plated steel or stainless steel with a chrome finish. Regular washing with mild soap and water, along with a dedicated chrome polish, will help prevent water spots, road grime, and heat discoloration from building up over time. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, which can dull or damage the plating.

Can I install these stacks and tops myself, or do I need a shop?

Many stack tops are a simple slip-on or clamp-on installation that can be done with basic hand tools. Full stack replacements may require more work, including disconnecting the existing pipe, aligning the new stack, and securing it with clamps or brackets. If you are not comfortable working with exhaust components or your setup requires cutting or welding, having a shop handle the installation is a good option.

Are chrome stacks and tops legal to install on my truck?

Exhaust stacks and tops are generally legal as long as they do not alter emissions equipment, exceed height or noise regulations in your state, and are properly secured. Regulations can vary by state and by whether your truck is used commercially, so check your local and DOT requirements before making changes to your exhaust system.
