International 9900/i/ix Hoods

Frequently Asked Questions About International 9900/i/ix Hoods

Will this hood fit my specific International 9900, 9900i, or 9900ix model year?

Hood fitment can vary slightly between production years and cab configurations, so it's important to confirm your truck's exact model and year before ordering. If you're unsure whether a hood will match your truck's mounting points and contours, reach out to our team with your VIN or model details so we can verify compatibility before you buy.

What material are these hoods made from, and how does it hold up over time?

Replacement and aftermarket hoods for the 9900 series are typically constructed from fiberglass or sheet molded compound (SMC), both of which are common in the industry for their balance of durability and weight. Fiberglass hoods offer good impact resistance and are relatively easy to repair if damaged, while SMC hoods tend to hold their shape well under temperature changes. The right choice often depends on your budget and how the truck is used.

Does the hood come primed or painted, or will I need to finish it myself?

Most hoods in this category are sold primed and ready for paint rather than finished in a factory color, since fleet and owner-operator color schemes vary widely. Plan on budgeting for paint and finishing work as a separate step after installation, and check the specific product listing for details on what's included.

What's involved in installing a replacement hood, and can I do it myself?

Installation generally involves removing the damaged or old hood from its hinge and mounting points, then aligning and securing the new hood using the same hardware or new mounting hardware if needed. While experienced DIYers with the right shop space and lifting equipment can handle this job, proper alignment is important for hood latch function and panel gaps, so many owners choose to have this done by a body shop or qualified technician.

Are headlight housings, brackets, and other components included with the hood, or sold separately?

This varies by product, so it's important to read the listing carefully. Some hoods are sold as a bare shell only, while others may include mounting brackets or come as part of a kit with additional components. If your truck needs replacement headlights, brackets, or hardware along with the hood, check whether those items are included or need to be purchased separately.
