Freightliner Columbia 112/120 Drive Axle Springs

Frequently Asked Questions About Freightliner Columbia 112/120 Drive Axle Springs

What is included in this category?

This category covers drive axle suspension springs and hangers for Freightliner Columbia 112 and 120 models. This includes leaf springs, spring hangers, and related suspension hardware that support the rear drive axles and help maintain proper ride height and load distribution.

How do I know if a spring or hanger will fit my specific Columbia truck?

Fit can vary based on your truck's suspension type, axle configuration, and model year, so it's important to match part numbers or measurements against your existing components before ordering. If you're unsure, having your VIN or the OEM part number on hand will help ensure you select the correct replacement.

What are the signs that my drive axle springs or hangers need to be replaced?

Common signs include visible cracks or rust on the spring leaves, sagging or uneven ride height, unusual noises over bumps, and worn or broken hangers that allow excessive movement in the suspension. If you notice any of these issues, it's a good idea to have the suspension inspected before they lead to more significant drivetrain or alignment problems.

Are these springs and hangers new, remanufactured, or used parts?

Availability varies by listing, so be sure to check the product description for each item to confirm its condition. We aim to clearly note whether a part is new, reconditioned, or a take-off part so you can choose based on your budget and quality preferences.

Do I need professional installation, or can I replace these parts myself?

Replacing drive axle springs and hangers typically requires lifting and supporting the vehicle, removing the axle assembly or suspension components, and proper torque specifications during reassembly. Because this affects vehicle safety and handling, we recommend having the installation performed by a qualified technician with the right tools and lift equipment unless you have prior experience with heavy-duty suspension work.
