Kenworth T680 Fuel Tank Brackets & Straps

Frequently Asked Questions About Kenworth T680 Fuel Tank Brackets & Straps

Will these brackets and straps fit my Kenworth T680 fuel tank?

Fuel tank brackets and straps are typically sized to match specific tank diameters and mounting configurations, so fitment can vary depending on your T680's model year and the tank size installed on your truck. Always check the listed tank diameter and mounting specs against your current setup, or contact our parts team to confirm compatibility before ordering.

What material are these brackets and straps made from, and how well do they hold up over time?

Most fuel tank brackets and straps are constructed from steel or aluminum, often with a protective coating or finish to help resist rust and corrosion from road exposure, moisture, and de-icing chemicals. Steel components tend to offer added strength for heavier tanks, while aluminum options can help reduce overall weight. Proper torque during installation and periodic inspection will help extend the life of the part regardless of material.

Can I install a new fuel tank bracket or strap myself, or do I need a professional?

Many drivers and fleet technicians replace fuel tank brackets and straps themselves, as the job generally involves supporting the tank, removing the worn hardware, and securing the new bracket or strap with the correct bolts and torque specs. However, because the fuel tank is heavy and needs to be properly supported during removal and installation, having a second person or a lift/jack on hand is strongly recommended, and those less experienced with underbody work may prefer a professional install.

How do I know if my current bracket or strap needs to be replaced?

Common signs include visible rust or corrosion, cracks or bends in the metal, elongated bolt holes, a tank that shifts or sags, or unusual rattling noises while driving. If you notice any looseness in the fuel tank mounting or visible wear on the strap, it's best to replace the part promptly to prevent further damage or a safety hazard on the road.

Are these replacement brackets and straps built to meet OEM specifications?

We offer a range of options, including OEM and aftermarket brackets and straps, so you can choose based on your budget and preference. Aftermarket parts are generally designed to match the fit, strength, and mounting pattern of the original Kenworth component, but if OEM matching is a priority for your fleet standards, be sure to check the product details or ask our team before purchasing.
