International RH Drivetrain Parts

Frequently Asked Questions About International RH Drivetrain Parts

Which model years are compatible with International RH drivetrain components?

International RH drivetrain parts are specifically designed for International RH Series trucks manufactured from 2017 to present. This includes the RH613, RH613 Daycab, and RH Series sleeper models. Always verify your specific OEM and model year before ordering, as some components may have mid-year production changes. Our parts fitment guide can help you confirm compatibility, or contact our tech support team with your OEM for exact matching.

What are the most common drivetrain issues I should watch for on my International RH?

Based on driver feedback and service records, the most frequent concerns include u-joint wear (typically around 150,000-200,000 miles), driveshaft vibration due to improper phasing or worn center bearings, and differential seal leaks. Early warning signs include clunking sounds during gear changes, vibrations that increase with speed, or visible grease throwing from u-joints. Regular inspection every 50,000 miles can help catch these issues before they lead to roadside failures.

Do I need special tools or professional installation for RH drivetrain parts?

Most RH drivetrain components require professional installation due to precise torque specifications and alignment requirements. U-joint replacement needs a heavy-duty press, while driveshaft work requires proper phasing and balancing equipment. Differential components need specific preload settings and specialized measuring tools. We recommend professional installation unless you have commercial truck experience and access to proper tools. Installation typically takes 2-4 hours depending on the component.

What's the difference between OEM and aftermarket drivetrain parts for the RH Series?

OEM parts guarantee exact fit and typically carry 12-24 month warranties, while quality aftermarket options can offer similar durability at 20-40% less cost. Key differences include material grades - OEM uses specific steel alloys matched to International specs, while aftermarket varies by manufacturer. For critical components like driveshafts and differentials, OEM is often worth the extra cost. For wear items like u-joints and seals, premium aftermarket brands like Spicer, Meritor, and Dana offer excellent alternatives with proven track records.

How do I identify which drivetrain configuration my International RH has?

Your RH's drivetrain configuration is determined by three key factors: transmission type (manual or automated), axle ratio (found on the differential tag), and wheelbase length. Check your door jamb sticker for the complete vehicle specifications, or look for the metal tag on your rear differential housing. Common configurations include Eaton Fuller 13/18-speed manuals with 3.36 to 4.11 ratios. The driveshaft length and u-joint series (typically 1710 or 1810) vary based on these specs. When ordering parts, always provide your complete OEM to ensure proper fitment.
